I’m very worried! My new co-worker is a Chatbot

9 de September de 2021

With the commercial massification of artificial intelligence (AI), many software solutions have been developed today, such as chatbots. These programmes allow the automation or pre-programming of some of the repetitive tasks that have been developed within companies. These levels of automation have generated controversy among employees, as in some cases there is a belief that these Chatbots will replace their jobs. Will your employees be replaced by Chatbots? The answer is absolutely NO. Chatbots, tools and software that are parameterised with AI have as their primary task to perform repetitive and routine tasks, so the skilled workforce in the short and medium term will not be replaced; precisely this type of technology will open up new opportunities in companies. The team in context and training One of the necessary measures within companies is to inform and explain to the work team about the use, scope and implementation of tools that use artificial intelligence within the organisation. In addition to this, it is very important that employees have a direct approach to the technology in order to make it understandable and everyday for them. When implementing chatbots, it is important that the first users are the employees. The KPIs that the Chatbot has within the organisation and its direct relationship with internal and external customers should be taught. After implementing AI and having trained your employees to work together with the Chatbot, authorise and train them to use the tool and discover new uses for the bot. Employees are a key part of the integration for the bot to be successful. They are the backbone of the business and should be recognised as such and treated accordingly. Chatbots will be a relief for your workers by improving their average performance and decreasing the work stress that may arise from certain tasks. Remember, the mission of Chatbots is to RELEASE HUMANS FROM BORING TASKS. Teamwork Solving problems is still a task that must be done by humans, give your employees the opportunity to become familiar with this statement. It will open up for your employees new challenges in their professional life, taking on responsibilities for highly skilled tasks such as business strategies and critical thinking. They will find ways to handle critical problems and strengthen the company structure. Just as chatbots learn on a daily basis, it is necessary to allow your employees to soak in artificial intelligence topics as much as they can. It must be a commitment with initiative to change at different levels of the company. Conclusions Start with the following guidelines in order to have a process of implementation, continuous improvement and acceptance of this kind of tools within your organisation: 1) Involvement: Of your employees in the whole process of using this type of tools. 2) Listening: To the possible opportunities for improvement that the tool may have in the day-to-day relationship with the internal and external customer. 3) Continuous improvement: Always emphasise the success stories and comparative cases where humans and computers can work in harmony increasing and improving the results of the work. "True progress is that which makes technology available to all". Henry Ford (1863-1947) American industrialist.
